About half of all infertility cases involve a male factor—a fact that most men and women don’t know. Because male fertility is not more broadly discussed—something we are passionate about changing!—many men wait months or even years before checking their fertility. In fact, on average, men are not tested until almost two years into a couple’s fertility journey. Often it happens after their partner has undergone extensive, and possibly avoidable, tests and treatment. We are working actively to change that, and partnering with fertility clinics, OB/GYNs, and other fertility partners to change that. Early testing helps identify male factors sooner, reducing stress, avoiding unnecessary and costly treatments, and giving both partners a clear, shared path forward.

Not necessarily. Many men with normal sexual function—including healthy libido and erections—can still have issues with sperm count, motility, or other factors affecting fertility. Likewise, experiencing erectile difficulties doesn’t always mean fertility problems. That’s why a thorough, expert-led evaluation is so important: we look beyond surface symptoms to uncover what’s really going on and give you a personalized treatment plan so you can pursue your family-building dreams.

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is defined as two or more miscarriages or one failed IVF cycle. While egg quality, uterine health, and female hormones often play a role, sperm quality can be a major factor too—and RPL is frequently linked to issues in both partners. Poor sperm quality and DNA fragmentation (where the genetic code inside the sperm is damaged) are common male factors that can contribute to pregnancy loss—and many of them are treatable. During our Male Fertility Workup, our doctors will ask about your fertility journey, including RPL, and give you a personalized plan forward, including additional testing or treatment options.

Given their training, experience, and expertise, the physicians of Posterity Health are available to evaluate and treat patients who have already been seen by a different physician. We find that, frequently, we can offer more innovative or successful treatments than other physicians. If not, at the very least, we can confirm your prior physician’s recommended treatment plan.
